Who We Are

Masaka KP HIV Prevention and Support Organization - MAHIPSO

MAHIPSO is a rural community organisation established on 19 June 2016. It began as a support group at Kitovu Blood Bank in Masaka District, Central Uganda, with a primary focus on promoting access to friendly healthcare, justice and legal aid services for Structurally Excluded Persons.

Today, MAHIPSO is registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee and as a Community Based Organisation. Its clinic is accredited as a Key Populations-serving health facility operating in the Greater Masaka Region.

What We Do

Programme Areas

Health Service Delivery

Advancing access to stigma-free, affordable and quality healthcare for Structurally Excluded Persons.

This is MAHIPSO's largest and core programme for 2025-2029. It includes HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, SRHR, family planning, mental health, GBV/IPV response, adherence support, health commodities, referrals, harm reduction referrals, telehealth, community outreach and digital health. The Strategic Compass identifies clinics and Drop-In Centres, outreach and door-to-door services, psychosocial support, telehealth, health commodities and other interventions.

Creating safer, more inclusive communities where Structurally Excluded Persons can access services, exercise their rights and participate meaningfully in society.

Strategic interventions include knowledge generation and management, public awareness, health and human rights, and building community voice and agency.

Building economically empowered communities capable of making informed financial choices and participating in economic opportunities.

This programme includes economic empowerment and livelihoods programming, partnerships with economic actors, convenings, expos, business grants and development of an economic development strategy.

Building the power, leadership, voice and agency of Structurally Excluded Persons to advocate for their rights and shape decisions affecting their communities.

This includes transformative leadership development, Change Makers Fellowship, TUMBIIZA advocacy, AWAMU progressive social movement building, campaigns, medical camps, outreaches and strategic partnerships.
