Our Story

  • Masaka KP HIV Prevention and Support Organization (MAHIPSO) was formed on the 19th of June 2016 as a support group at Kitovu blood bank.
  • Formed with a primary motive of promoting access to friendly healthcare, justice and legal aid services for the Transgender women, Non binary persons, sex workers and other sexual minorities in the southern region.

Our Profile

  • MAHIPSO is a Trans, Non binary youth, Sex worker and intersectionally feminist led organization advocating and serving the queer and sex worker movement in the region.

    MAHIPSO espouses and at all times aspires to be guided by, advocate for and adhere to the human rights principles of accountability, empowerment, non-discrimination, participation & express application of the national & international legal (human rights) framework.

    We are incorporated as a company limited by guarantee and without share capital under the Uganda Registration Bureau. We are led by The General Assembly which is made up of all our members. The decisions of the General Assembly are guided and overseen by a board of five respected members and also human rights practitioners.

OUR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To identify, mobilize and organize transgender women, non binary persons, female workers and other sexual minorities and equip them with knowledge, skills, value and attitude that will inspire them for transformational impact in the communities to shape a sustainable and resilient future by 2027
  •  

To become a fountain of intersectional programming in social, economic and sustainable development in Uganda and East Africa .

  • To provide a platform to be used to amplify voices for example, expression of transgender women, non binary persons, sex workers and other sexual minorities.

  • To inspire transgender women, non binary persons, sex workers and other sexual minorities to demonstrate transformational leadership in their communities and shape sustainable and resilient future that promotes prosperity.
